    What We Are All About

New Hope Baptist Church seeks to develop passionate disciples of Jesus Christ who desire to know God and make Him known. We do this by valuing:

    • God’s Word...therefore we will place it as our highest priority in faith and life.
    • Prayer...therefore we will have regular communication with God both individually and as a church.
    • Discipleship...therefore we will train believers to a fuller maturity in their spiritual walk.
    • Evangelism...therefore we will strive to lead lost people to Jesus Christ.
    • Unity...therefore we will promote harmony among all age groups in the body of Christ.
    • Service...therefore we will use our abilities and spiritual gifts for the glory of God.

To see how this works itself out at NHBC, take a look around our website. You will see that God's Word is a priority and prayer is essential. You will discover that Biblical discipleship produces Christians that are passionate about evangelism. And you will experience unity that works itself out in service. NHBC is a church that doesn't live in the past but presses forward to the future (Philippians 3:13-14). Therefore we have instituted a four-year strategic ministry plan. Be sure to check it out as you browse our website! Our prayer is that God will be glorified and his name magnified through the ministry of NHBC.

    What to Expect:

Visiting a new church can be very intimidating, especially if you haven’t visited one in a long time. Let us help make this a better experience for you. When you first walk in our doors you will be greeted and given a weekly bulletin. If you have any questions on where to go please ask one of the greeters they would love to help.

What is available for my children?

We offer childcare during our regular Sunday morning worship gathering at 10:30am. We also have a Junior Church for children in grades K-5 during the preaching portion of the gathering most weeks. The dismissal of the children will be announced from the stage. We have a youth ministry called Ignite that will cater to your children in grades 6-12. They meet on Wednesday nights from 7-8pm and Sundays from 9:30-10:15am.

What if I don’t have kids is there something for me?

We also offer a selection of three adult classes on Sunday mornings at 9:30. Pick one of these excellent classes to help deepen your faith. Ask one of our door greeters how to get to the classrooms and get there early for some coffee and sometimes snacks.

    What should I wear?

We don’t have a dress code here at New Hope. Some of our congregation dress casually and some dress up, but you should come just as you are. We can’t wait to have you here!

What happens during a Sunday Service?

A normal Sunday worship gathering will consist of singing, preaching, giving and prayer and usually last 75 mins or less. Most of the time is dedicated to the preaching of the Word of God. Our hope is that all will come to know God and be like Him.

Will you ask me to give money to your church?

We believe that financial support falls on members and regular attenders, not on our guests. Please do NOT participate in the giving. We would rather get to know you!

Like what you see? Good because all we are missing is you. Come and visit us or make us your new church home either way let’s worship the Lord together.

    Personal Testimony

I grew up in northeastern Colorado in a small farming community as the 3rd of 4 kids. I was fortunate to grow up in a family where my parents loved each other, loved us and for most of my life they have loved the Lord. I became a believer at a very young age, young enough I cannot remember a date. This uncertainty was cleared up in July 6th of 1992 when at Homestead Bible Camp I rededicated my life to the Lord and also gave the Lord my life for His ministry.

In 1990, when I was 12 years old, Bob Korthuis (my mentor) asked me to serve and help set up the multiple Vacation Bible Schools and 5 weeks of Homestead Bible Camp. That summer began a 23 year service to the Lord there. Bob and his wife Ellen not only became my mentors but also my second family and they pushed me to deepen my relationship with God.

In June 2002 I came on as an Area Missionary with American Missionary Fellowship  overseeing Homestead Bible Camp and the multiple Vacation Bible Schools in the area of Northeastern Colorado.

In August of 2003 I added to those responsibilities by taking on a youth position in Eaton, CO.

In June of 2004 I attended new missionary Orientation at American Missionary Fellowship’s Home Office in Villanova, PA and met Rachel Pinkerton who was already a missionary with American Missionary Fellowship. A year later we were married and she joined me in Colorado. We have been married now for over 12 years and work alongside each other in ministry. She is the love of my life and we are rarely seen doing ministry without each other. We have two children, Noah and Hannah and enjoy seeing them grow in the Lord and share Him with others.

In 2013 God called me away from full time missionary service to Indiana serving within the local church as Youth Pastor. In doing these ministries I have experienced much growth and God has used many experiences to mold me and refine me into the servant He desires me to be.

When I was called to New Hope Baptist Church as a Youth Pastor I knew there may be an opportunity at some point to move into the Senior Pastor role. While never seeking out this role, it became evident to Rachel and I that this was where God wanted me to serve next and in September of 2017 I took over the role.

I am excited about what God has called me to in this next chapter of ministry and life. As we as a church look forward to what God is doing here in the Gas City area we will continue to seek to develop passionate disciples of Jesus Christ who desire to know God and make Him known.
